How to Join

Who can join?

Baylands Federal Credit Union membership is open to individuals who live, work, worship, attend school or volunteer in any of the following (8) counties:

  • James City
  • New Kent
  • King William
  • King & Queen
  • Middlesex
  • Essex
  • Gloucester
  • Mathews

Additionally, immediate family members of existing members also qualify.

Membership lasts a lifetime

A member retains their membership on the basis of “once a member, always a member” status. If membership is established by a minor child (under 18 years of age), parent authorization is needed. 

Opening an Account

Accounts can be opened in person at any of our locations.  A minimum $5.00 deposit into a savings account is required.  Our Membership application is available and can be printed by clicking the link below.

Important information about procedures for opening a new account

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.
