Letter from the CEO

Happy New Year! The start of a new year is a great time to reflect upon past successes and set goals for the coming year. Many of us set personal wellness goals that could range from wanting to eat healthier, to working out more, or maybe just spending more “me time” doing the things you love. But did you know that being a Baylands member provides you the opportunity for a fiscal check-up? Our highly trained staff members are dedicated to helping you reach your peak financial fitness in 2023. Whether it is providing a better understanding of your credit score, creating a monthly cash flow management plan, or taking that next step towards financial wellness, we are here and ready to help you reach your goals.

Baylands remains committed to investing in and strengthening the communities we serve. We hope you had the chance to visit with us at a number of our recently held events including Fall Shred, No Tricks Just Treats, International Credit Union Day, or our Member Appreciation Day. With your help we donated over $500 of canned goods and non-perishable items to Bread for Life Pantry of Gloucester and with your help we can continue to make a difference in the lives of many. We can achieve better, together!

Our dedicated team is united in purpose and is committed to improving your membership experience. Our pledge to you is a continued resolve in pursuit of quality enhancements for the products and services we offer. We appreciate and welcome your feedback and want to hear from you. As we look to the new year, we offer our sincere thanks to you for being a loyal and supportive part of the Baylands family. Let us help you make this coming year great!

Wishing you all a happy, prosperous, and truly inspirational new year!

New Year - New Financial Goals

It's the start of a new year, and a great time to evaluate financial wellness and set financial goals. Many of us have a physical check-up on this year's to-do list so why not add a complimentary fiscal check-up to kick off the year?

While everyone may have different financial goals, as a Baylands member you don’t have to build aplan to become fiscally fit on your own.

Our certified Credit Counselor, Kimberly Allen, is here to help whether it’s preparing for the journey to homeownership, raising your credit score, building a monthly cash flow plan or setting financial goals through the Financial Seeds of Success program.

It’s a free benefit that has helped numerous members reach financial goals that they initially felt were impossible. Also, appointments with the Credit Counselor are available at all branches.

To get started, give Kimberly a call at 804-843-2520 ext. 115.

Employee Spotlight - Erica Cowart

When not at work, Erica is on a mission to travel and explore every state in the United States of America. To date, she only has 14 states left to visit to complete her mission. When asked what is the best part about her work at Baylands, Erica replied, “I love the team I work with, and assisting & meeting our members!”.

Mortgage Q&A

How Much House Can I Afford?
Setting a realistic homebuying budget is a vital step toward being financially equipped to own a home. Determining your “purchasing power” will give you an idea of how much house you can afford. The Baylands Home Team can assess your current financial situation to help determine this amount.

A review of your credit score and debt-to-income (DTI) ratio, among other qualifications, will help identify the monthly payments you can afford. The Credit Union also offers a self-help mortgage calculator on the Baylands website to estimate monthly payment amounts. Not sure where to start, let the Baylands Home Team help you open the doors to your next home. Contact us today to talk about pre-qualification and next steps.
