Winter Wins

Brrrr! Winter is finally here with a chill in the air, but  have no fear!  Baylands has some warm and fuzzy things going on at the credit union. And while we look forward to what lies ahead in 2022, we want to thank you – our members - for an incredible 2021!

The start of a new year is a great time to set goals. One goal we know members wish to achieve is saving more and Baylands can help put a savings plan in motion through the many products we offer. From our special club savings accounts to our pocket change program, we can help you get started towards your 2022 financial goals!

Our credit union remains focused on giving back to our local communities, and we strive to do this even more around the holidays. Recently, Baylands partnered with the American Red Cross and the James City Volunteer Rescue Squad to host a successful community-wide blood drive. In addition, each of our branches took on the challenge of supporting a local charity where we were able to help out some amazing non-profit organizations dedicated to assisting our neighbors and friends in need.

An exciting thing coming in 2022 is our new mobile banking app expected to launch in the coming months. The new app will provide members with a consistent digital banking experience and new features. More information about the new app can be found on page 3.

The Goal of Saving

t’s the start of a new year and for many that brings a commitment to reaching financial goals. For many, one major burden to eliminate in 2022 is: low savings or no emergency savings. Holiday Community Impact 

Baylands took the opportunity near Thanksgiving to give the gift of life. The Baylands Norge branch hosted a blood drive in partnership with the James City Volunteer Rescue Squad and American Red Cross. The result of the drive helped the American Red Cross assist at least 54 different individuals. Please consider joining us at next year’s drive.

In addition, each Baylands branch took on the challenge of supporting a different local charity during the holiday season:

Chesterfield
Thanks to the generosity of members, the branch collected over $300 worth of canned goods and was also able to make a financial donation of $300 to the Chesterfield food bank.

Norge
Members supported a new endeavor by purchasing some beautifully hand-painted pumpkins as well as making generous donations to help the branch be able to make a financial donation of $300 to once again support the Grove Christian Outreach Blessing Room.

West Point & New Kent
Thanks to the support of some big-hearted members, we reached a new holiday fundraiser record of $700 dollars to help support the King William Christmas Dreams program.

Employee Spotlight - Sandra Kellam 

Meet Sandra Kellam!  With 18 years of experience, Sandra serves as a leader on the teller line and is one of the most seasoned Member Service Representatives at our West Point Branch. When not at work, Sandra likes to spend her time reading books on positive thinking and spiritual awareness. She also volunteers at a local church to help those in need. When asked what is most rewarding about her work at Baylands, her response was the satisfaction that comes from helping members with the health and wellness of their financial lives.

Coming Soon...A New Mobile Banking App

Coming soon in 2022, we will launch a brand new mobile banking app. The new app will provide an experience consistent with our recently upgraded Baylands Online Banking.

Be on the lookout for more information when the new app is available for download on the Google Play or Apple App Store. The new app will provide greater access to ALL of your accounts, including bill pay, credit cards and sign-in utilizing mobile device biometric security options.

Review your contact information so you never miss account communications like 2021 tax information or helpful newsletters like this one!
