New Name.  Same Great Family!

As we usher in a new year - along comes a new name too. Baylands Federal Credit Union is now Baylands Family Credit Union. Now we can officially say that Family is our middle name!

As shown below, you'll soon see the new refreshed colors and logo – online and in our branches. Though these changes may be subtle, the removal of "Federal" from our name represents a shift in our charter to be a state regulated institution. What does this mean to you? Not much. Your account will remain the same and will still be insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration. For us, internally, it means that our regulators will be more localized and relevant to our community.

We're also excited to bring you our new mobile app! Be sure to download it from the Apple Store or Google Play so you can make transfers, check balances or even make deposits (once qualified). As much as we love seeing our Baylands family in our branches, you now have a full service one at your fingertips.

Annual Meeting - Save the Date!

March 27, 2018

Be sure to come out to our Annual Meeting on Tuesday – March 27, 2018 at the Van den Boogaard Center in West Point, VA where we will elect our Board of Directors. Following the business meeting there will be light refreshments and good fellowship. Hope to see you there!

We are always looking for volunteers! If you are interested in being a volunteer member of our Board or Supervisory Committee, please let us know.


Electronic Funds Transfer Error Resolution Annual Notification

Errors or Questions. In Case of Errors or Questions About Your Electronic Transfers telephone us at: (888) 843-2520 or write us at: Baylands Family Credit Union, PO Box 392, West Point, VA 23181 as soon as you can, if you think your statement or receipt is wrong or if you need more information about a transfer listed on the statement or receipt. We must hear from you no later than 60 days after we sent the FIRST statement on which the problem or error appeared.

a. Tell us your name and account number (if any).

b. Describe the error or the transfer you are unsure about, and explain as clearly as you can why you believe it is an error or why you need more information.

c. Tell us the dollar amount of the suspected error.

If you tell us orally, we may require that you send us your complaint or question in writing within 10 business days. We will determine whether an error occurred within 10 business days after we hear from you and will correct any error promptly. If we need more time, however, we may take up to 45 days to investigate your complaint or question.

If we decide to do this, we will credit your account within 10 business days for the amount you think is in error, so that you will have the use of the money during the time it takes us to complete our investigation. If we ask you to put your complaint or question in writing and we do not receive it within 10 business days, we may not credit your account. For errors involving new accounts, point-of-sale, or foreign-initiated transactions, we may take up to 90* days to investigate your complaint or question. For new accounts, we may take up to 20 business days to credit your account for the amount you think is in error. We will tell you the results within three business days after completing our investigation. If we decide that there was no error, we will send you a written explanation. You may ask for copies of the documents that we used in our investigation.

*If you give notice of an error within 30 days after you make the first deposit to your account, notice of an error involving a point of sale transaction, or notice of an error involving a transaction initiated outside the U.S., its possessions and territories, we will have 90 days instead of 45 days to investigate.


It's Tax Time

IRA Withholding Notice

Payments from your IRA are subject to federal income tax withholding, unless you elect no withholding. You may change your withholding election at any time prior to your receipt of payment. To change your withholding election, complete the appropriate form provided by your credit union. Withholding from your IRA payments, when combined with other withholding, MAY relieve you from payment of estimated income taxes. However, your withholding election does not affect the amount of income tax you pay. You may incur penalties under the estimated tax rules if your withholding and estimated tax payments are insufficient.
