Baylands Spring Shred-A-Thon

West Point Branch
Saturday - May 3, 2025
10:00am - 12:00pm

Stop by our West Point location for our Spring 2025 Shred-A-Thon event to be held in partnership with ProShred® and The CornerStone Community Development Center of King William County.

This is a great opportunity to securely dispose of unwanted paperwork and sensitive documents along with helping some local families in need. Use this event to get rid of old paperwork such as bills, credit card statements, old tax returns, etc. You are welcome to bring up to three file boxes or paper bags per vehicle. (Paper grocery bags or paper boxes should not exceed 18”L x 12”W x 10”H). Items must be paper - no 3 ring binders, hard drives, CDs, plastic bags, etc.

We invite you to also bring a non-perishable food item to the event to donate to the CornerStone Community food program. To see a list of suggested items to donate visit baylandsfcu.org. Your donation will go a long way toward helping local families battling food insecurity.

Member Perks

What is Shared Branching?

Did you know that you can easily access a wide array of services from Baylands Family Credit Union at thousands of convenient locations across the United States? As a proud member of the CO-OP shared branch network, you have access to an extensive network of over 5,600 branch locations and nearly 30,000 ATMs nationwide, with additional options available internationally.

Being affiliated with the CO-OP shared branch network means that you can visit any participating credit union and seamlessly perform transactions just as you would at your local branch. This includes making withdrawals, transferring funds between accounts, printing statements, and checking your account balance.

If you’re planning a summer getaway, make sure to download the CO-OP ATM and Shared Branch Locator app, available on both iOS and Android. This handy app will help you find a credit union branch or ATM near you, no matter where your travels take you. Alternatively, you can simply text your ZIP code to 91989, and you’ll receive a quick text response guiding you to nearby in-network ATMs and credit union service centers.

Whenever you see the logo to the right displayed in a credit union lobby or ATM you’ve found a shared branch ready to help.

Coming Soon:

ID Check by Co-OP

Starting in May when members visit Shared Branch locations outside the state of Virginia, an extra layer of security has been implemented by all Shared Branch Locations. A teller at a Shared Branch location can now identify and authenticate members in the branch using a QR code and one-time passcode multi-factor authentication verification.

This additional security layer of authentication - called IDCheck - will be used for loan payments, cashier’s checks, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and account inquiries.

The extra layer of security has been added to ensure a safe, secure and seamless member experience while preventing account takeover fraud.

Tech Tips:

Remote Deposit Capture

Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) is a convenient tool that allows you to deposit checks anytime and anywhere using your camera-enabled smartphone. Members can enable RDC on the BFCU mobile app by meeting designated guidelines. Here are 5 tips to help members make the most of this feature:

  1. Sign/Endorse the back of your check, label it “For Deposit Only at BFCU,” and include your member number.
  2. When prompted for the amount, carefully enter the check amount to ensure it matches the amount written on your check.
  3. Before taking your photos:  flatten folded or crumpled checks, place on a dark background in a well-lit area, and ensure no shadows appear across the face of the check.
  4. Keep the check within the viewfinder on the camera screen, and make sure the MICR line (numbers on the bottom of your check) is readable.
  5. Make sure that the entire check image is visible and in focus before submitting your deposit.

For more information on RDC and how to activate this feature, please contact a Baylands staff member today!
