A Letter from the President & CEO

Greetings Everyone!  I am humbled, honored, and excited to have been selected as your new President & CEO of Baylands Family Credit Union.  Having joined BFCU in 2007, and with 30 years of credit union service, I firmly believe in the credit union motto of “People Helping People.” I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this organization and work alongside our dedicated staff and volunteers as they exemplify the true spirit of service, professionalism, hard work and community commitment.  They passionately support our goal of helping each of you achieve financial success, and I’m proud to be part of this family.  2020 has been a year of challenges and we’ve had a busy couple of months.  Our entire team remains committed to providing the best products and services to our members.  We are here to help, and welcome the opportunity to be the best financial partner for all!

In addition, I recognize that the success we celebrate is also thanks to YOU, our members, and your dedication to our Credit Union.  I appreciate each and every one of you, and value your continued trust, loyalty, and support!  As we move forward, we do so together and I’m excited for what the future holds.

Celebrate PINKtober

Join Baylands in wearing pink this October to support Cancer Awareness! We are collecting funds to raise money to benefit cancer research. Please consider donating.  Donations will be accepted at all branch offices through October 31st.

Charitable Activities at Baylands Family CU
This summer saw the Baylands Family participate in several charity initiatives to help children in the area. From fundraisers that involved having fun with lemons, collecting school supplies and even wearing jeans, all were done to have a positive impact on the local community.

Baylands teamed up with Anthem to once again participate in the annual LemonAid fundraiser to help children faced with a cancer diagnosis and their families. This year’s fundraiser was virtual and consisted of fun-filled lemon themed challenges posted to social media to help raise funds and awareness.  Hopefully you saw members of the Baylands Staff and our affiliate, Giraph, having some fun completing challenges on Facebook. As a result of the generosity of our Baylands Family members and staff, we were able to raise $535! THANK YOU!

Baylands believes in the power of education and wanted to help some local students and teachers be well prepared for the new school year. Each branch created an eye-catching display in the lobby to collect school supplies for a designated local school. At Baylands, we join with parents, teachers and students in looking forward to the day kids can all return safely to school.
If you stopped into a branch on September 9th you may have noticed many staff members wearing jeans. Baylands once again partnered with Credit Unions for Kids to help deliver miracles to children. Our staff went casual to celebrate Miracle Jeans Day, raise awareness, and gain some support for the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU.

Looking forward, Baylands plans to hold another “Pinktober” event in support of breast cancer patients, survivors, and their families throughout the month of October. Baylands also plans to collect funds and gifts for the holidays through the months of November and December to benefit local families in need.  We hope you’ll join us in our initiatives to help families live better lives!

International Credit Union Day

October 15th is International Credit Union Day, and Baylands is excited to celebrate virtually with you! Everything we do, we do to serve the needs of our communities and members on a local scale as credit unions across the world provide hope through financial services, education and support. International Credit Union Day (ICU Day) is a celebration of this movement.

This year we celebrate those who turn to us and all credit unions every day for financial services, guidance, and relief during difficult times in an effort to inspire hope in a global community.

We will be sharing some stories from members on our social Media channels of how Baylands has helped a person or family live a better life. We encourage members to email stories to fhayes@baylandsfcu.org or post on Facebook, tag Baylands Family Credit Union, and use hashtag #ICUDay.
