PC
Teller -- Frequently Asked Questions
|
How much does PC Teller cost?
- PC Teller
access is free. The only charges are
for stop-payments and excessive check
withdrawals.
- The charge
for stop-payments on personal checks is the same amount that
we charge when you come into our lobby
to place a stop-payment
- There is a charge
for stop-payments that you ask us to place on Check to
Self checks
within 15 days of
issuance.
- The normal charge
for excessive check withdrawals also applies to checks that are withdrawn
by PC Teller
This
fee is charged after 3 withdrawals by check per
month. The first 3 check withdrawals each month are free. Remember,
this excessive check withdrawal fee applies to any check withdrawals,
not
just PC Teller If
you withdraw funds by counter check by coming into the office, it
will count as one of the check withdrawals.

I tried logging into PC Teller
using my PhoneTeller PIN but it doesn't work. Why?
- Your PhoneTeller PIN and PC Teller PIN are separate.
- For security reasons, requests for a PIN to access
PC Teller must be submitted in writing with your signature.
- You
may download a
request form. If you happen to come by the credit union office,
we also have many forms available in our lobby.

Why didn't my transaction show up right away?
Scenario:
This past weekend, I made a loan payment by transferring
money from my checking account using PC Teller This didn't show
up on PC Teller until Monday morning. The withdrawal from checking
showed up immediately, but the credit to the loan account did
not show up until Monday morning. Am I being punished by having
the
withdrawal posted right away while the credit is not posted until
a few days later?
|
- This occurred because the transaction
was done during the weekend. This will always occur during non-business
hours (late at night, weekends, holidays, etc.).
- Even though you
did not see the credit immediately, it is effectively dated for
the day
on which you entered it, so the interest that is paid is the
amount that was accrued as of the date on which you entered it.

Why did my connection expire?
Scenario
I was trying to reconcile my checking account using Quicken®. I was
switching
back and forth between PC Teller and Quicken®. I got a message that stated "Your
connection has expired. For increased security on this site, connections are
expired after a delay of 5 minutes. If you would like to perform further transactions
please return to the sign on section." I was looking at PC Teller when I
got this message and had recently minimized the screen a few seconds before.
I wasn't "delaying" in balancing my checkbook. Why did I get this message?
|
- The delay is referring to the last time
that you pressed one of the buttons on the PC Teller website.
- These
buttons do not include the minimizing and maximizing of the PC
Teller screen, nor does it include the pressing of the back or forward
buttons.
- This is done for the security of your account information
to protect
you in case you inadvertently left your computer unattended
with PC Teller connected.

Are there any limitations on the number or dollar amount of transactions
that I may perform in one day?
- This answer has four parts. The limits on number
of transactions are as follows
- Only 6 withdrawals are allowed from your non-transaction
sub-accounts (S1, S2) by any combination of PhoneTeller,
PC Teller, or phone call to the credit union office per month.
This is a
federal law, nicknamed Regulation D, with which we must
comply. We plan on addressing this issue in the near-future with
the
introduction of a new type of sub-account which should
satisfy the Fed as well as any of our members that want a transaction
sub-account separate from their checking accounts. This
6 transfer
limitation does not apply to your checking accounts (S10,
S11, S12 and/or S36).
- There is a maximum dollar amount to a transfer
using PC Teller It is currently set at $99,999.00.
Certain sub-accounts do not allow transfers FROM, but do allow
transfers INTO (Insurance
Account-S32, Bill Payment Accounts-S35, S40-Visa Club,
S41-Visa Sweep, S50-Escrow, S-61 Christmas Club, All loans except
Overdraft
lines of credit). Other sub-accounts to not allow transfers
INTO or FROM (all Certificates).
- The maximum amount of bill payments in one day
is $9,999.99
- The only other limitation would be the amount of
money you have AVAILABLE in the sub-account.

Do I need different
PIN numbers to access all the accounts that I have at BayLands?
My spouse and I have two accounts at BayLands. I am joint on some of his
sub-accounts. Do I need two PIN numbers to be able to access both accounts?
How does this work?
-
You will need a PIN for your access and your
spouse will need a PIN for his access. You will then be able
to access sub-accounts on which you are joint and perform transactions
on these accounts.
-
Example: Jane Doe, member number 12345, has the
following sub-accounts: S1-Savings, S10-Checking, L11-New Car
Loan, and L14-Personal Loan.
John Doe, member number 23456, has the following sub-accounts: S1-Savings,
S2-Secondary Savings, S10-Checking, S10.1-Secondary Checking, L12-Used
Car Loan, and L79-Home Equity Loan.
-
Per the account cards and loan agreements
that Jane and John signed when they
opened each of these sub-accounts, Jane is joint on John's S1, S10,
L12, and L79. When she logs into PC Teller, she will be able
to see balances
and conduct
transactions on her S1, S10, L11 and L14 as well as John's S1, S10,
L12 and L79. She will not be able to see or access his S2 or
his S10.1.
-
Per the account cards and loan agreements that
Jane and John signed when they opened each of these sub-accounts,
John is joint on Jane's
S1, S10, and L11.
When he logs into PC Teller, he will be able to see balances and
conduct
transactions on his S1, S2, S10, S10.1, L12 and L79 as well as
on Jane's S1, S10 and L11.
He will not be able to see or access her L14.

How do I prevent someone who is joint on one or more
of my sub-accounts from seeing my balances and making transactions?
- To prevent the access of a joint person to your
sub-accounts, you will need to remove them as a joint person. To
remove them as a joint person, you and the joint person will need
to sign an account change card or loan agreement. Please see a
Member Service Representative to change information on a share
account or a Loan Representative to change information on a loan
account.

Can I use PC Teller to
change my payroll or Direct Deposit setup?
- No. Because of the complexity of payroll deductions
and direct deposits, changes to these must be submitted on our
payroll forms. Please come by the credit union office or call today
if you wish to make changes to your payroll or direct deposit.

Why does the amount of interest that I pay on my loan
fluctuate with every payment?
- This isn't really a PC Teller questions, but
since most people notice it when they are researching their accounts
on PC Teller, we thought it would be appropriate. All interest
on consumer loans at BayLands FCU is calculated using simple interest.
Therefore, the longer you wait between payments, the more interest
is accumulated. If you pay your loan on a consistent basis (e.g.
exactly every 7 days by a weekly direct deposit) you will notice
the interest amount gradually decreasing. However, if you make
your payment inconsistently you will notice varying amounts of
your payment used to pay interest because of the varying number
of days between payments. Even if you consistently make monthly
payments, you may still see a fluctuation in interest as different
months have different numbers of days.
